At the beginning of the 2000 softball season the Baylor Athletic Department named Baylor's new softball stadium after Ted and Sue Getterman. Getterman Stadium, the nation?s premier collegiate softball stadium, recognizes the largest single donation ever to Baylor women's athletics.

"One of the highlights of my job is showing Getterman Stadium to our recruits and watching their reactions," head coach Glenn Moore said. "Thanks to many, but especially Ted and Sue Getterman, we have one of the top five stadiums in the country."

The Gettermans are lifelong residents of Waco and originally met as students at Baylor. Ted Getterman is a former mayor of Waco.

Getterman Stadium features 430 chairback seats and 800 bleacher seats, most of which are covered. The stadium also boasts a state-of-the-art press box. The press box is fully air conditioned and carpeted, has two radio booths (one for home and one for visitors), a control room for public address and scoreboard, a VIP booth with theatre seating, a two-level press room and two restrooms. In addition, a concession area and novelty store are located on the lower level.

In 2002, the Baylor Softball and Tennis Clubhouse opened adjacent to Getterman Stadium, featuring locker, team, training and equipment rooms, and office suites for the softball staff. In 2003, Getterman Stadium became the nation?s first collegiate softball facility to sport a video board. All of which makes Getterman Stadium the nation?s premier collegiate softball facility.

When President George W. Bush visits the Western White House during the summer months, members of his staff and secret service agents often use Getterman Stadium for pick-up games.

"This is truly an amazing stadium, and it speaks to the advances in women's athletics," Bush said of Getterman Stadium during a fall 2002 visit.

Getterman Stadium has been host to numerous marquee events, including as serving host for games during the the 2004 and 2005 NCAA Softball Championships.
