2008 Women's Tennis
The 2008 Baylor women's tennis team recorded the best season in program history with a final record of 32-3 and a trip to the NCAA Semifinals. The Bears secured their fourth-straight Big 12 regular season championship, and won their third-straight conference tournament title. In addition, Zuzana Zemenova advanced to the NCAA Singles championship match for the second time in her career. She finished her Baylor career with a 17-3 record in the singles tournament.

Lenka Broosova advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals, joining Zemenova as the only two Baylor players to advance to the quarterfinals in the same season. Both earned singles and doubles All-America honors from the ITA. Also, Broosova and Jelena Stanivuk were named to the NCAA Women's Tennis All-Tournament Team at the No. 3 and No. 5 position, respectively, after finishing tournament play with perfect 5-0 records.

Zemenova led a Baylor sweep of the Big 12 season awards. The senior won the conference Player of the Year award for the fourth year, the only athlete in Big 12 history to be named player of the year four times. Taylor Ormond was named the conference Freshman of the Year, while Stanivuk earned Newcomer of the Year honors. Head coach Joey Scrivano was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year.


Men's Tennis
2008 Big 12 Regular Season and Tournament Champions

Matt Knoll's men's tennis team continued its impressive national presence this season when the Bears finished among the nation's top 10 teams for the ninth time in the last 10 years.

Baylor completed the 2007-08 season at 25-9, ranked No. 8 and advanced to the NCAA Championship quarterfinals for the sixth straight year. In addition, Baylor claimed the Big 12 Conference regular season championship, a triumph that marked the Bears' seventh-straight regular season conference championship and eighth overall in the league's 12-year history. The Bears also won their sixth Big 12 Conference Championship title.

For the third time in program history, two players earned All-America status in singles with senior Lars Poerschke and sophomore Denes Lukacs earning a spot on the prestigious list. Lukacs advanced to the tournament's quarterfinals while Poerschke advance to the round of 16.

Capping an illustrious career, Poerschke, a three-time All-American, was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's winner of the prestigious Arthur Ashe Jr. Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship.

Softball
2007 Big 12 Regular Season Champions

The 2007 Baylor softball team posted the best season in program history as the Lady Bears claimed the Big 12 Conference regular season title while advancing to the Women's College World Series for the first time in school history. The Lady Bears claimed their first-ever conference title in dramatic fashion as Baylor needed wins over three, nationally-ranked teams at the end of the year to claim the conference crown. After defeating Missouri and Texas at home, Baylor managed a thrilling, 5-4, come-from-behind victory over Texas A&M in 10-innings as senior Chelsi Lake scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the tenth inning to seal the title.

From there, the team continued to make history for the program as the Lady Bears swept through the NCAA Hempstead Regional before defeating Michigan in a best-of-three series to advance to the WCWS for the first time. At the WCWS, Baylor claimed its first-ever victory on collegiate softball's ultimate stage as the Lady Bears defeated the Aggies for the third time on the year before finishing the tournament in a tie for fifth-place.

On the season, Baylor finished with a record of 51-16 and finished the year ranked fifth in the nation, the highest ranking in school history.

Men's Tennis
2007 Big 12 Regular Season and Tournament Champions
Led by two seniors, Michal Kokta and Matija Zgaga, the Bears won the program's six straight regular season Big 12 championship and seventh in the last eight seasons, tallied their fifth Big 12 Conference postseason championship and advanced to at least the NCAA Championship semifinals for the fourth straight year.

For the second straight year, head coach Matt Knoll's Bears, ranked No. 4 in the final ITA rankings with a 28-4-7 record, was led by junior All-American Lars Poerschke who finished the season ranked No. 12 with a 27-9 singles record. Poerschke teamed with junior Michal Kokta to rank No. 31 nationally at seasons end. Kokta was ranked No. 22 in the final rankings, freshman Dominik Mueller was No. 101 and Zgaga was listed at No. 118. In addition, the doubles tandem of David Galic and Zgaga were ranked No. 32 in the final rankings.


Women's Tennis
2007 Big 12 Regular Season and Tournament Champions

In 2006-07, fifth-year head coach Joey Scrivano's women's tennis squad claimed its fourth Big 12 regular-season title and second Big 12 postseason championship. In addition, the squad advanced to at least the NCAA Championships' round of 16 for the third straight season.

The Bears ended the season with a 24-7 record and a final national ranking of No. 13. Baylor was led by junior Zuzana Zemenova, the program's first three-time All-American. Zemenova posted a 22-7 mark and was ranked No. 10 in the final rankings, her highest listing of the spring season. Zemenova advanced to the NCAA Singles Championship semifinals before being eliminated by eventual national champion, Audra Cohen of Miami. Senior Zuzana Cerna ended the season ranked No. 52 and freshman Lenka Broosova ended her rookie campaign with a team-best record of 37-8 and a ranking of No. 80.

In doubles, three duos were on the final rankings list. Baylor's top-ranked tandem was Broosova and senior Klara Zrustova at No. 44 while Cerna and Broosova were ranked No. 53 and Zemenova and senior Iva Mihaylova checked in at No. 56.

Men's Tennis
2006 Big 12 Regular Season Champions
Despite having no seniors on the squad and losing two NCAA singles champions from the previous season, head coach Matt Knoll's 2005-06 team continued the level of excellence the program has recently enjoyed. Not only did the Bears win the program's fifth straight regular season Big 12 championship and sixth in the last seven seasons, Baylor advanced to the NCAA Championship semifinals before falling to then-top ranked and undefeated Georgia, 4-3.

The Bears, ranked No. 4 in the final ITA rankings with a 25-7 record, were led by sophomore All-American Lars Poerschke who finished the season ranked No. 4 with a 36-12 singles record. Poerschke teamed with junior Michal Kokta to rank No. 11 nationally at seasons end in doubles with a 16-2 mark. Junior Matija Zgaga was the third Baylor player to rank among the nation's elite finishing No. 62 in the final listing.


Women's Tennis
2006 Big 12 Regular Season and Tournament Champions

Completing his fourth season as Baylor's head women's tennis coach, Joey Scrivano coached his Bears through a record-setting season. The Bears claimed their third Big 12 regular-season title and their first-ever Big 12 postseason championship on their way to an NCAA quarterfinal appearance. Overall, the netters earned a program-best 28-3 record, 11-0 in conference play, and concluded the season ranked sixth nationally, the highest final ranking in program history.

Four individual Bears were also recognized by the Big 12 for their regular-season conference records. Sophomore Zuzana Zemenova, for the second-consecutive year, topped the No. 1 singles with an 11-0 mark while junior Zuzana Cerna earned the best record, 10-0, at the No. 2 position. At the conference's No. 4 singles position, junior Klara Zrustova boasted the winningest record, 11-0, while Zuzana Krchnakova topped the No. 6 singles list with her 9-1 mark.

Among Baylor's records, Cerna tallied the most singles wins in a season by winning 45 matches. Both Cerna and Zemenova were invited to the NCAA individual tournament and earned All-America status by being seeded in the singles bracket. Zemenova was the fourth seed and Cerna was seeded in the nine to 16 slot.

Baylor Baseball
2005 Big 12 Regular Season Champions
Baylor's 2005 baseball team enjoyed the best season in the program's history, winning a Big 12 Conference championship, reaching the championship game of the Big 12 Conference Tournament and reaching the national semifinals at the College World Series. The Bears finished the season 46-24 and ranked fourth nationally, the highest final ranking in the program's history. It was Baylor's first College World Series team since 1978.

Perhaps the most impressive facet of the 2005 squad was its identity, one lacking of individualism. Baylor was the only team at the College World Series without an All-American, signifying the "team" personality of the 2005 Bears. Baylor won 12 games in its final at bat during the 2005 season, including the second-largest comeback in College World Series history as the Bears rallied from a 7-0 deficit entering the bottom of the seventh to eliminate top-seeded and top-ranked Tulane.

2005 Big 12 Regular Season Champions

For the second time in his three seasons at Baylor, women's tennis head coach Joey Scrivano guided his squad to the Big 12 Conference championship. In addition, freshman Zuzana Zemenova made history by winning the NCAA singles title, a first for a BU women's tennis player. The Lady Bears breezed through league play with a perfect 11-0 mark and achieved the program's best-ever ITA final ranking, finishing the 2005 campaign ranked No. 14 with a school-record 24-6 record. Baylor advanced to the NCAA round of 16 for just the second time in school history.

Zemenova, who finished the season ranked No. 14, was named women's tennis' Honda Award winner, a first for a Baylor student-athlete. She also was named Big 12 Player and Freshman of the Year, ITA Regional Rookie of the Year and became the third Baylor women's tennis player to earn All-American honors. Sophomore rookie Zuzana Cerna earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Year kudos as well. Zemenova was BU's lone All-Big 12 honoree in singles and Cerna and Daniela Covello were All-Big 12 doubles selections. In addition, Rebekah Rhodes was named ITA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year.

2005 Big 12 Regular Season and Tournament Champions
Head coach Matt Knoll guided the Bears to a school-record 33-1 mark, a 57-match win streak, the program's fifth Big 12 Conference title and a place in the championship match of the NCAA Tournament as well as garnering ITA National Coach of the Year recognition. Benedikt Dorsch capped his three-year career with a NCAA singles title, ITA Player of the Year honors for the second straight season, his third straight Big 12 Player of the Year designation and All-American honors in both singles and doubles for the third time. For the second straight season he finished as the ITA's top-ranked player and will leave Baylor ranking No. 1 on the BU charts in winning percentage in both singles and doubles at .886 (117-15) and .790 (82-33), respectively.

In addition to Becker, senior Benjamin Dorsch and sophomore Matija Zgaga earning All-America distinction, the Bears dominated ITA Regional awards. Knoll was named the South Central Region's coach of the year, Rob Cheyne was assistant coach of the year and freshman Lars Poerschke was rookie of the year. In addition, Poerschke became the sixth straight Baylor player to earn Big 12 Freshman of the Year kudos.


Baylor Women's Basketball
2005 NCAA Champions, Big 12 Regular Season and Tournament Champions

Head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson and the 2004-05 Baylor women's basketball team "Finished the Job" with a dominating 84-62 victory over Michigan State in the NCAA championship game to secure the first women's team national title in school history. The Lady Bears posted a 33-3 record, the best mark in school history, 14-2 in Big 12 Conference play and a perfect 14-0 at home en route the NCAA Championship and the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles. The Lady Bears also finished the season with a school-record 20-game winning streak, and as the No. 2 seed in the Tempe Regional, became only the fourth men's or women's basketball team to win the title by knocking off three straight No. 1 seeds - North Carolina, LSU and Michigan State. Junior forward Sophia Young was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament and the Tempe Regional and earned Kodak All-America as well as All-Big 12 honors and numerous other national and league accolades. Senior post Steffanie Blackmon joined Young on the All-Big 12 Team and earned third-team All-America honors. Mulkey-Robertson was tabbed Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year and became the first woman in history to win the NCAA title as both a player and head coach.

2004 NCAA Champions, Big 12 Regular Season and Tournament Champions
Matt Knoll and the 2004 Baylor Bears claimed the school's first-ever NCAA team championship when they defeated UCLA 4-0 at the NCAA Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The Bears posted a program-best 32-2 record and ended the season ranked No. 1 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) national rankings. Junior Benedikt Dorsch was named the tournament's most outstanding player and finished the season ranked No.1 bya the ITA. In addition, Dorsch was named the ITA Men's Player of the Year. Also, junior Benjamin Becker claimed the NCAA Singles Championship, also a first for the Baylor program. The Bears won their fourth straight Big 12 regular-season championship and third conference tournament title in the last four years.

2003 Big 12 Champions

First-year head coach Joey Scrivano led the women's tennis team to the program's first conference title in 2003 with a 9-2 league record. The team's lone senior, Vida Mulec, earned All-Big 12 honors in singles.

The men's tennis team claimed its third Big 12 title in four years, brought home the conference tournament championship for the second-straight year and finished the year ranked No. 4 in the nation.

Big 12 Coach of the Year Matt Knoll led his men's tennis team to its second Big 12 championship in three seasons, then tacked on the program's first-ever Big 12 Tournament title for good measure. The Bears finished the season ranked seventh nationally after advancing to the NCAA Round of 16 for the third time in four years. Freshman Benjamin Becker earned All-America honors in singles and finished the year ranked No. 11 in the nation, earning Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors.

2001 Big 12 Champions
Head coach Tim Hobby's Bears compiled eight top-five finishes in the regular season before claiming the 2001 Big 12 Championships in Hutchinson, Kan., by an astounding 10 strokes. Senior Worth Williams brought home the individual title by an eight-stroke margin. Williams and fellow senior Jimmy Walker each earned All-Big 12 honors, and Hobby was named Big 12 Coach of the Year.

Baylor Baseball
2000 Big 12 Champions

Baylor went 45-17 in 2000 en route to the Big 12 Conference title, the first outright league championship for the baseball program since 1923. The Bears, who finished the season ranked 14th nationally, hosted their second-straight NCAA Regional. Closer Zane Carlson set a new Baylor career record with 15 saves and won Collegiate Baseball's National Freshman of the Year award, while head coach Steve Smith earned Big 12 Coach of the Year honors from the league's coaches.

2000 Big 12 Champions
The Baylor men's tennis team won the first Big 12 Conference championship for any men's sport at Baylor in 2000, beating out the baseball team by three weeks. Seniors Johann Jooste, David Hodge and Pawel Gajdzik led the squad to another first as the program hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Baylor advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 in Athens, Ga., for the first time and finished the season ranked seventh nationally. Hodge and Mark Williams teamed to form the No. 8 doubles team in the country and earn All-America honors, while Jooste fought his way to All-America singles honors.

Baylor Soccer
1998 Big 12 Champions

The Baylor soccer program earned the first Big 12 Conference championship in Baylor history in 1998, when the Bears won the league title in just the program's third year of existence. Baylor swept through conference with a perfect 9-0 record, ranking as high as 10th nationally and earning the program's first NCAA appearance. Dawn Greathouse and Courtney Saunders each were named All-Americans, while Nikki Hales and Julie Larson joined them on the All-Big 12 Conference team.
